More inkings...

I'm making more pieces with Inca inspired motives.

I like their imagination and the disposition of the pictures on the fabric.

They are wonderful to take as teachers for a while. I'm learning very much with their help. This let me study their civilization at the same time and it is really interesting that they began with all this at a b.C. time!!

It is also interesting that the fabrics could be conserved for so many years due to the dry climate.

Something is also happening with my use of colors. I got a hang to use some kind of rusty ones with pastel ones... it is an odd combination but I love the result. It sizzles!

Weekend class

This weekend I had a workshop and I did this small piece during the class to show some techniques with the embellisher.

I also used resin for framing the face.

Chasuble

Yesterday was the birthday of our priest in Mank and the community gave him a chasuble made by me as a gift.

Now I can show you the photographs at last!

I could decide about the design and I was very happy about it.

Inkings

You know I'm working on this series now. I cannot resist to show some details of the work because I miss sharing what I do...

There is a new way of making the backgrounds and also I'm using some other creatures, not only my usual figures.

Doing this series and working with the embellisher for some time now I noticed I have a longing for working only with raw materials -not using paints and non-wovens- and trying to get all the structure and colour melting from the combination and punching of different wool colours and qualities.

I also punch fabrics, laces, etc. but I find that using all the painting techniques we are used to working with fabric turns the product much alike to the works we have done before using the embellisher. This machine needs some techniques of her own...

You get for instance the most gorgeous background mixing colours on the back of the piece, it lookes like water color on the front.

The photograph is kind of blurred but you get the idea.

I'm back once more

I just wanted to tell you that I'm back and working.

The problem is that I have lots of (secret) work to do so that I'm not really back to normal...

I mean "secret" because I can't give sneak previews of the pieces I'm going to have in the magazines or my piece for Art of the Stitch. This is a real pain because I'm so used to share everything I do with you, my dear friends in the web.

Anyhow, I want to keep you informed so much as possible of all that I'm doing and I hope that not everything is so secret!
