How I'm spending my time

My sister Cristina from Argentina is visiting me and we went to Burghausen in Germany and found this wonderful ceramics shop there.

What are you doing this summer?

You Should Spend Your Summer in Europe

You're in to almost all forms of culture - art, music, architecture, food...
And spending a summer at the beach sounds pretty darn boring to you.
So head off to Europe, where you can have your tiramisu (and even eat it on the beach!)

I see I can stay where I am!! :-)

Home

This little family is happy in their home.
I did this work overlapping many materials, fusing, bonding, stitching, doing a heavy machine stitching as a background to create more contrast. It's about 8,5" x 8,5" (22 x 22 cm) without frame.

Little Druids

I found this silver charms as I refurbished my studio and wanted to do something with them. I thought about forests with little druids in them... and this was the result.
The hats and crowns I'm using in my embroideries are made out of a 50's lady's hat I found in a second hand shop in Ohio as I was visiting the Turtle Camp there. Susan Shie took me to this wonderful shop with lots of awsome things!

What kind of blue are you?

You Are Periwinkle

You're very intuitive and sensitive. You often know other people better than they know themselves.
You're also quite optimistic, and you think well of yourself and others. You know your dreams will come true.

Spring Love

This little couple is very much in love and I felt in love with it too. At least I felt in love with this technique, layering, heating, painting, embelishing... The weather outside isn't inviting so that I prefer to work in my studio waiting for the real spring to come!

ATCs swap

I was so happy to have an ATCs swap with Liz Plummer. She is an outstanding Englisch textile artist. The texture of her piece is amazing!

I sent her an angel who banned his way through the 3 cards.

Framing...

Now I framed my first work in the series. I think you get a better contrast and it is easier for the buyer to imagine how to hang it on the wall. I would say you need a bigger white frame with or without a glas on it. I will try it too and see how it looks like and take a picture of the finished piece.

The King of Hearts

Today I continued the series I started with the Keepers of the Garden. This time I did a lightly bigger piece and played with burning fabric. I've got the hang of being piromaniac! After working with Tyvek and Colback ana my heating tool now I also tried using a soldering iron on fabric. It's a real good way of getting rid of scissors(try it if you can't find yours)!
I was very happy with the result and I'm looking forward to my next piece.

Little Keepers of the Garden

Today I did these little keepers of the garden. If you want to see a detail of each of them please look at my photos

I made them with my collage technique using cheesecloth, wool, organza, non-wovens and inkjet prints. After assembling them I embroidered both with hand and machine.

Refurbishing...

Two days ago I got one of my attacks where I only despair about my bigger studio not being finished yet! Then I thought it would be a good idea to go to IKEA and buy some book shelves to order my things.
I also bought many plastic boxes with a lid because I'm allergic to dust and my former plastic boxes were hopeless dusty!!
I worked obsessively till I had most things where I wanted to have them.
Now I must cool down a little and take a rest!
I'm already veeerrry pleased with the result. My DH wants to work on the studio as soon as he finishes the scaffold to be able to work on the roof, he is taking it seriously now that I'm taking it seriously too!!
